The Kremlin says it expects the upcoming visit of French President Francois Hollande to Washington and Moscow to be a step toward creation of a wide antiterrorist coalition.
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said November 20 that President Vladimir Putin will meet Hollande in Moscow on November 26 to discuss the coordination of French and Russian actions in combating terrorism.
The comments come a day after Moscow announced that the top Russian and French military officials had held a phone call to discuss joint efforts to fight the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria.
France, which is part of a U.S.-led coalition fighting the IS group, stepped up air strikes on Syria following last week's terror attacks in Paris, and called for a broad anti-IS coalition.
Russia launched its own bombing campaign in Syria on September 30.
