Iraq and Turkey have agreed on closer security and intelligence cooperation in the face of the threat posed by Islamic State (IS) militants.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said in Baghdad on November 20 that "we have a key agreement to exchange information and have full security cooperation."
Abadi spoke after meeting with his visiting Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu, who said the two countries will do everything they can “to stand up to terrorism."
IS militants control large swaths of territory in both Iraq and Syria.
Relations soured between the two neighbors recently over what Baghdad sees as illegal oil exports by Iraq's Kurdish semiautonomous region through Turkish territory.
Abadi said Davutoglu made clear that Ankara was keen to have "transparent and clear" relations on the oil issue and that Baghdad would be informed of any Iraqi oil exports going through Turkey.
